Tattoo Removal Pre & Post Care at Laser it

Before Tattoo Removal at Laser it

Patch Test

A patch test must be carried out before any full treatment begins. During your tattoo removal patch test, a Laser it technician will check how your skin responds to treatment and will assess how well the light is absorbed in the area undergoing treatment.

It is imperative that any changes in the skin after undergoing a patch test are communicated to the technician.

• Treatment can not be carried out if there is any active tan present on the skin undergoing treatment. This includes all gradual fake tanning lotions.

• All make-up, cosmetic products, perfumes, body creams, gels & lotions must be thoroughly washed from the area to be treated.

• Avoid alcohol consumption 24 hours prior to treatment and aspirin 24 hours prior to treatment. Failure to adhere increases the risk of pin-point bleeding.

• Inform your technician of any changes in medical records, prescriptions and medicines taken. These include over the counter medicines and alternative medicines, as well as prescriptions.

After Tattoo Removal at Laser it

• Bathe and wash the body as normal but avoid taking hot baths. Keep water lukewarm and cleanse the area gently.

• Pat the skin dry with a clean towel after bathing or showering. Use a fragrance-free moisturiser or Vaseline to keep the area moisturised.

• Regular day-to-day activities may commence after treatment. However, avoid all activities that involve excessive heat. E.g., steam rooms, saunas, intense exercise.

• The skin may feel hot after treatment. This is normal and ice packs may be used to cool the area.

• The skin may swell after treatment. Use ice packs to bring down the swelling and if treatment was administered on or around the face and you are experiencing swelling, sleep with a pillow underneath your head to keep the area raised and bring down swelling.

• Use SPF (factor 30 or higher) between all treatments and for at least one month after treatment finishes. Protect the treated areas from sunlight during this time period.

• Should you have any concerns or if any blistering occurs, contact Laser it immediately. Keep the area clean and dry to allow the body to heal naturally. Never pick blisters and do not apply lotions or creams onto broken skin as this can cause infection and irritation. Wear suncream for 12 months after healing. This prevents pigmentation changes to the skin.

• Contact Laser it at any time if you are concerned or need any aftercare advice.
